Finally up on CS2007 - getting ready for 2008 - it is AMAZING!

Solid State Drives

I posted back in June '06 about a converstation with Rob Howard regarding Vista and hybrid drives.  Dell posted recently that they are making solid state drives an option in some of their laptops right now and will soon release an option across all lines to support these drives.  Right now, the drives are pretty small and really expensive: 32Gig for $550.  Using technology math, we should see this technology be really mainstream and cheap in, what, 3 years?  I'm guessing 100 Gig and $200 in 3 years...

Check out the post about this on Direct2Dell: http://direct2dell.com/one2one/archive/2007/04/24/12726.aspx.

Actually, the forecasting by most HDD vendors puts it right at that mark.  To where in 2010 (3 years) SSDs (Solid State Drive) will be 1.1 to 1.2 times the cost of HDDs of the same size.

So, I'm waiting...
